Dr. Meineke is a native San Diegan having grown up in Del Mar where he attended Torrey Pines High school. He went on to obtain his Bachelor of Science from the University of California Los Angeles and his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati where he was able to spend time with his grandfather who had previously worked as a professor at the school for over 50 years. Returning to southern California Dr. Meineke completed his orthopedic residency at Loma Linda University and a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery with world renowned surgeon Dr. Roger Mann in Oakland.
Dr. Meineke has been proud to serve the north county San Diego community for nearly 10 years since completing his training. Not only does Dr. Meineke take pride in his ability to handle most general orthopedic issues including joint replacement, arthroscopy and fractures but he also has special interest in complex foot and ankle reconstruction and ankle replacement surgery for traumatic and arthritic conditions.
Dr. Meineke believes strongly in involving patients in their own decision making and works hard to present treatment options in terms most can understand and encourages his patients to ask questions. Whenever possible he will first recommend therapy, bracing or other nonoperative treatment prior to consideration of surgery. He understands the importance of being thorough and honest when discussing the risks and benefits of treatment and the anticipated recovery from treatment knowing it can affect work, finances, and place strain on the support of family and friends.
When away from the office or hospital Dr. Meineke spends his time with his wife Minhthy, an anesthesiologist at UCSD Medical Center, and his two young sons August and Conrad. Together they enjoy the beach, golfing, traveling and skiing.
"I'm grateful to be practicing where I grew up, in North County San Diego. This is my home and where I have enjoyed an active lifestyle like so many other people who call this area home. It is my privilege to help my neighbours restore and maintain their quality of lives" - Dr. Ryan Meineke
